Choosing a fragrance for someone else can be a difficult task due to it’s personal nature. You need to be aware of their likes and dislikes, scent preferences and fragrance habits. Do they wear perfume daily, or only on special occasions? Would they prefer a subtle scent or a powerful aroma? Read ahead for our advice on how to choose the perfect perfume for your mum this Mother’s Day.

A good place to start is to take a look at their current fragrance collection to get a good idea of what scent they would be likely to choose for themselves. Perhaps you’ll spot a favourite that is soon to run out, granting the perfect opportunity to replenish her favourite perfume! If it’s not possible to take a peek at your mum’s existing scent collection, we think it’s useful to take separate fragrances make a decision based on their main elements of floral, fruity and evening fragrances.

A lovely, light floral fragrance is such a popular fragrance choice, and at Beauty Base we have some of the best floral fragrances on offer, it’ll be difficult to only choose one! Firstly, we can’t recommend Intimately Beckham Women from David Beckham (£45) enough for it’s delicate pink bottle and complex array of floral notes. The Intimately Beckham women’s fragrance is a total treat for the senses with its generous touches of rose, vanilla, Casablanca lily and bergamot. This scent is like an uplifting bouquet that your mum is bound to enjoy spritzing on before a day full of shopping and fun.

For a delicious fruity fragrance we love the iconic Nina by Nina Ricci perfume (£55). It’s mouthwatering notes of lemon and lime mixed with tempting toffee apple and vanilla-infused praline ensures a long lasting, enchanting scent. The apple shaped bottle design is so charming and magical, it really does make for the perfect Mother’s Day gift.

An overlap of the fruity and floral perfumes comes in the form of the latest scent from fashion brand Jimmy Choo. The Jimmy Choo L’Eau perfume (£36) is a dynamic scent bursting with hibiscus flower, sweet nectarine and floral peony, making it a sensual yet sweet fragrance option which can be worn day or night.

Evening fragrances

For a truly intoxicating yet delicious scent, we suggest the ever so popular Marc Jacobs Decadence perfume (£69) for women which comes in a revolutionary unique handbag bottle design with playful tassel detailing. It’s a wonderful evening fragrance due to it’s succulent Italian plum, Bulgarian rose and amber elements, which would invite your mum to indulge herself in an evening of sophistication. A night out will never be the same again!

Fragrance gift sets

One of our bestselling women’s fragrance gift sets is the beautifully packaged Chloé eau de parfum 50ml & perfumed body lotion 100ml gift set (£45). The Chloé signature scent is a stunning combination of floral powder notes, with hints of peony and lychee. This set includes the Chloé perfume infused body lotion which can be applied before the perfume for a lingering scent.

A totally unique fragrance giftset comes from Ghost with their Ghost Deep Night perfume which comes with a 30ml eau de toilette and a lovely scented candle (£24). The majestic rich purple packaging looks luxurious in itself, making it the perfect gift to open on Mothering Sunday. With powerful notes of Indian rose, ‘belle de nuit’ blossom and fruity hints of orange and apricot, this romantic scent is ideal for the strong, modern woman.
