About Vera Wang
Vera Ellen Wang was born in New York City in 1949 to Chinese parents who had emigrated to the United States a few years earlier. Vera had originally intended to become a professional figure skater, having been skating since the age of six, but when she failed to make the US Olympics team, she decided to turn to fashion. She earned a degree in art history from Sarah Lawrence College, and worked as a senior fashion editor for Vogue and a design director at Ralph Lauren before launching her own design salon. Vera Wang wedding dresses have been particularly popular, having been worn by the likes of Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez.
